RUTH MARGARET MARTIN
Ruth M. Martin, 77, Phillips, died on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. She was born on May 30, 1937, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wi., the daughter of Lloyd Harold and Leone Rose (Possley) Lutz. She spent her early life and schooling in Wisconsin Rapids, where she graduated from Assumption High School, Class of 1955.
She was married to Elmer J. “Nappy” Martin on July 31, 1965, in Wisconsin Rapids.
She was employed at Consolidated Papers in Wisconsin Rapids for a short time before continuing her education. She attended school in Milwaukee for Secretarial Science and Business Management.
They made their home in Coco Beach Florida, Marshfield, Wi. Fairbanks, Alaska, and then have been residents of Phillips since 1989
She was employed at Marshfield Clinic, as a bank teller, and then as an executive secretary for the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, prior to her retirement.
She was very active within her community volunteering on many senior projects and with her church. In her free time she enjoyed water aerobics, church activities, watching the Packers,, and most of all spending time with her family
She was a member of St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, and the Senior Citizens Center.
She is survived by her husband Elmer “Nappy” Martin, Phillips, by 3 children: Patricia (Scott) Scholz, Phillips, Richard (Sabreena) Martin, Sherwood, Wi., and Susan (Allen) Kerner, Phillips, by 5 grandchildren 2 great grandchildren by 1 sister Jacqueline Brown, Atlanta, Ga. and by 1 brother James (Adeline) Lutz, Shawano, Wi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by 2 brothers: Marvin and Richard Lutz, and by 1 brother-in-law Dr. Howard Brown.
There is no service at this time.
A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
