RUSSELL FREDERICK SAWALLISH
Russell F. Sawallish, 94, Township of Elk, died on Monday, September 21, 2015 at his home. He was born on September 16, 1921, in Poy Sippi, Wi., the son of Frederick and Minnie (Westerman) Sawallish. He attended and graduated from Omro High School, Class of 1939. He was married to Dorothy Krueger on July 29, 1939, in Oshkosh. They recently celebrated their 76th Wedding Anniversary. He was employed as a dairy farmer and also at Universal Foundry for many years prior to his retirement in 1982. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Borth, Wi., where he was the Sunday School Superintendent for many years, and a member of the Universal Credit Union Board. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising English Spaniels, pheasants, and trout. After making their home in the Township of Elk in 1985 he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Phillips, was involved with grooming snowmobile trails and was a member of the Soo Lake Association.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy, Township of Elk, by 3 sons: Wayne (Lori), Township of Elk, Larry, Quincy, Ill., and Douglas (Nickie Ann) Berlin, Wi., by 6 grandchildren: Michelle (Craig) Stevenson, Stacie (Rick) Adkins, Russell Braun Sawallish, Trevor (Laura) Sawallish, Yulric Sawallish, and Yahn ( Tammi) Sawallish, 10 great- grandchildren and special friends Evonne Harr, Hazelhurst, and Paul and Diane Albright, Township of Elk.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by 1 brother and 3 sisters.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Phillips, with Pastor John Trewyn officiating. Interment will be in the Borth Cemetery, Township of Poy Sippi, Wi., at a later date. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. on Saturday at the church until the time of the service
