RICHARD CHARLES OLSON

Richard C. Olson, 79, Township of Worcester, died on Sunday, July 13, 2014, at his home. He was born on July 13, 1935, in Ashland, Wi., the son of Arnold and Gladys (Martin) Olson.

He spent his early life and schooling in Ashland. He then entered the military service and served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956 where he was stationed in Germany. Following his military service he was married to Evelyn Oberg in Duluth, Minn. On September 3, 1956.. They celebrated over 57 years of marriage together.

He was employed by the Flambeau Paper Company, Park Falls, then as a game warden in Price County, then for many years he was a construction superintendent for C.R. Meyer Co. prior to his retirement in 1997. After retirement they made their home in the Township of Worcester

He was an active member of the Phillips Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses where he served as an Elder and was a volunteer on the Regional Building Committee.

In his free time he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching the Green Bay Packers, playing cards spending time with his family and friends., and was a dedicated reader of the Bible.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn, Township of Worcester, by his two children: Scott (Jeffrey Ann) Olson, Cedar City, Utah, and Cynthia Rose (Jeffrey) Thorpe, Crandon, Wi., by 3 grandchildren: Dustin, Dalton, and Emily , and by 4 sisters: Margie Foley, Wyendot, Mi., Janet (Bob) Mattson, and Nancy Olson, all of Ashland, and Betty (Neil) Hubbard, Oconomowoc, Wi.,

He was preceded in death by his parents, by 1 brother Bill Olson, and by 1 son Ricky Olson.

A memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 19, 2014, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Phillips, with Brother Wayne Lindberg of the Dorchester Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses presiding.

Friends may call at Kingdom Hall in Phillips on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.

The Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, is in charge of the arrangements.
