Paul Philip Pilch, 92, Phillips, Town of Worcester, arrived at his 3:00 O’clock quitting time early in the morning on Friday, June 29, 2018, at the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home in Phillips while under the care of Flambeau Home Health and Hospice. He was born on April 29, 1926, in Phillips, the son of John and Zuzanna (Ciz) Pilch. He was married to June Catchpole on December 28, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois. He was a 29 year employee to Phillips Lionite, retiring in 1991. He also operated a dairy farm in the Town of Worcester, and was employed by the Central School District of Phillips as a School Bus Driver. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Phillips, and of the ZCBJ Western Fraternal Association. In his free time he enjoyed spending time with his family, travel, especially his 37 trips to Alaska, was an avid reader, and enjoyed tinkering with mechanical devices.
He is survived by June, his wife of almost 70 years; by four children, Gail (Peter) Bergeson, New Richmond, WI, Linda (Peter) Lindgren, Rhinelander, Paul Jr. (Helen), Willow, Alaska, and Karen (Jon) Cress, Kenai, Alaska; by 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; and by one brother, Ed (Loree), Fargo, ND. He is preceded in death by two great grandchildren, Rylee and Elkin; by four sisters, Ruth Malach, Anna Dureno, Stephanie Jandacek, and Mary Pilch; and by three brothers, Andrew, John, and Sam.
Memorial services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Phillips at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 7, with Pastor Keith Hurlbut officiating. Inurnment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Phillips. Paul’s family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 2:00 P.M. until the time of services.
