LeRoy W. Hanson, 73 Phillips, died on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at his home. He was born on June 13, 1941, in Ashland, Wi., the son of William and Dorothy (Touve) Hanson. He spent his early life and schooling in Iron River, Wi., He attended and graduated from Columbia High School, Iron River, Wi., Class of 1959. He was married to Evelyn Lahti on August 29, 1969, in Iron River. He was employed at various occupations, including a bartender, then at Bayfield Electric, was the owner/operator of Hanson’s OK Hardware in Iron River, then at Price Electric Cooperative in Phillips from 1976 until the time of his retirement in 2003. At the time of his retirement he was the general manager of Price Electric Cooperative.
In his free time he was actively involved with the Phillips Lions Club and the Phillips Chaparrals Snowmobile Club.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn, Phillips, by 2 sons: Darren (Laurie) Hanson, Iron River, Wi., and Troy Hanson, Phillips, by 2 grandchildren Andrew and Addison Hanson, and by 1 brother: Marvin (Audrey) Hanson, Green Bay, Wi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by 2 brothers: Robert and Gerald Hanson.
A memorial Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 11, 2015, at the Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, with Pastor Thomas Reiff officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, April 11, 2015, from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service.
The Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips is in charge of the arrangements.
