LARRY COPS Sr
Larry James cops Sr. 71, Prentice, died in the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home in Phillips on Saturday, September 19, 2015. He was born in Oklahoma city, Oklahoma, on May 22, 1944, the son of James and Ida Cops. He served his country during the Viet Nam War in the United States Navy, stationed aboard the USS Capricornus, and was honorably discharged on December 4, 1964 He was married to Mary Powell on May 12, 1979. He worked as a Blacksmith. He was active in the Trapper Rendezvous Club. In his free time he enjoyed singing, playing guitar, dancing, camping, and re-enacting the fur trade era.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mary; by five children, Kimberly Cops, Larry Cops Jr., Carrie Champagne, Katy Svejda, and Sean Kelley; by step children Tammy Wildman, Tanya Tate, and Daniel Wildman; by 25 grand and great grandchildren; by five brothers, Linn Cops, Richard Kohlhaas II, William Ciecle, Jimmy Don, and Duard Wayne; and by four sisters, Susan Cops Thomas, Robyn Kohlhaas Bradford, Sara Cunningham, and Sharon Kay.
A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at the home of Marci Wiegel, W2858 County Road D, Phillips, on Saturday, October 10, from 11:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.. Paul Dischler will deliver the opening remarks for the celebration at 11:00 A.M..
