JULIA STAFFORD
Julia Agnes Stafford, 92, Phillips, Town of Flambeau, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, in the Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home in Phillips while under the care of her family and Flambeau Home Health and Hospice. She was born the daughter of Paul and Caroline (Kelbus) Kozak at the family farm in the Town of Flambeau on May 20, 1923. She attended the Phillips High School. She was married to Clarence Stafford on May 18, 1943, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. She and Clarence operated a dairy farm in the Town of Flambeau, she was employed as a Cook at the Lugerville School, and then was a 20 year employee of Phillips Plastics Corporation, working there until she retired to be with Clarence. She was a member of Saint Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, and of the Flambeau Bettes Homemakers Club. In her free time she enjoyed flower gardening, canning, cooking, baking, and crocheting afghans.
She is survived by two sons, John Michael (Carol), Phillips, and Jeffrey James (Marie), Phillips; by 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and by one sister, Anne Burgemeister, Brown Deer, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, on October 3, 1999; and is also preceded in death by her daughter, Cathleen; by 7 brothers, Paul Kozak, Louis Kozak, Frank Kozak, George Kozak, Carl Kozak, Joseph Kozak, and John Kozak; and by two sisters, Mary Simurdiak and Cecelia Krebal.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 18, at Saint Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church in Phillips with Father Gerald Hagen celebrating the Funeral Mass. Interment will be in the Saint Patrick Cemetery in Phillips. Friends may call at the Heindl Funeral Home in Phillips on Thursday, September 17, after 5:00 P.M.. The Parish Wake Service will be held at the funeral Home at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday Evening with Deacon James Celba officiating.
