James Francis Raleigh

JAMES RALEIGH
James Francis Raleigh, 83, Town of Hackett, died in the Golden Living Center in Tomahawk on Monday, January 5, 2015. He was born in Stratford, Wisconsin, on August 22, 1931, the son of Arthur and Frances Raleigh. The family moved to Brantwood when Jim was a year old, and he lived in the same house most of his life. He attended the East Hackett Grade School, and was a 1950 graduate of the Tripoli High School. As a young man he worked for 4 years in Montana and the Dakotas. He was married to Elaine Catherine Weisinger in Prentice on April 27, 1963. He operated a dairy farm in the Town of Hackett, Brantwood, and logged. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Prentice and was a 55 year member of the John Patrick Slowey Knights of Columbus Council No. 2963 of Phillips. He served as a Board Member of the Brantwood CO-OP Supply, the Brantwood Cheese Factory, Served on the Prentice School Board for 16 years, the Price County Board of Adjustments, and was serving as a Board member of Price County Town Mutual Insurance Company and of the Brantwood Credit Union, and had served as Supervisor of the Town of Hackett. In his free time he enjoyed trapping and was a great hunter. Following his retirement he operated a sawmill and planer, and enjoyed working with machinery.
He is survived by five children, Dale (Darla), Brantwood, Randy, Brantwood, Joe (Theresa), Brantwood, LuAnn (Kevin) Jahn, Tripoli, and Sarah (Carl) Biscamp, Silsby, Texas; by five grandchildren; by three brothers, Patrick, Gobles, MI, Arthur (Judy), Prentice, and David (Rose), Prentice; and by one sister, Mary Ann (Clarence) Boehm, Cumberland, WI. His wife, Elaine, preceded him in death on October 6, 2010; and by four brothers, Dan, Richard, Ronald, and Robert.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 10, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Prentice with Father Gerald Hagen and Deacon James Celba concelebrating the Funeral Mass. Interment will be in the Prentice Cemetery in Prentice. Friends may call at the Heindl Funeral Home in Prentice after 4:30 P.M. on Friday, January 9, and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. The Parish Wake Service will be held at the funeral home at 6:30 P.M. and Friday, with the Knights of Columbus memorial service to follow.

The family suggests that memorials take the form of a donation to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jim’s honor.
