GENE ROYCE LENZ, SR.
Gene R. Lenz Sr.,77, Township of Flambeau, died on Sunday, June 4, 2017, at his home.
He was born on October 24, 1939, in Rockville, Wi., the son of Herman and Leila (Corpian) Lenz. He spent his early life and schooling in Cassville, Wi., Following his education he entered the U.S. Navy and served his country from 1957 to 1960 in Japan and the United States. He made his home in the Lugerville area in 1963.
He was married to Caroline Voda on April 21, 1966, in Beresford, South Dakota. They were married for over 51 years.
He was employed on road construction and was an Over the Road Trucker. Then prior to his retirement he owned and operated L & L Tree Service.
In his free time he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He was a campground host at many campgrounds throughout the United States.
He is survived by his wife of over 51 years Caroline, Town of Flambeau, by his children: Tami Merl and Cheryl Hartley, both of Utah, by Gene, Jr. (Julie) Sparta, Missouri, Emily Timmers, Wausau, Lawrence Lenz, and Joseph (Angela) Lenz, all of Phillips, by numerous grand and great grandchildren, and by 1 brother: Harold (Joann) Lenz, Cassville, Wi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by 1 daughter Carla, by 1 sister Charlotte, and 2 brothers Floyd and LaVern.
Friends may call on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. at St. Threrese of Lisieux Catholic Church, Phillips.
A memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 9, 2017 at St. therese of Lisieux Catholic Church. Friends may call on Friday, June 9, 2017, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service at 11:00. A.M. Inurnment will be held at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Phillips, on Friday, Jjune 9, 2017, where military honors will be conducted by the Frank and Michael Baran VFW Post #5778, and the Lane-Kreiling American Legion Post #122, both of Phillips conducting.
The Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, is in charge of the arrangements.
