Donna M. Lucas

November 6, 1943 — August 23, 2020

Donna Marie Lucas passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 23rd, 2020, near her home in Park Falls, Wisconsin.

Donna was born November 6, 1943, in Waukegan, IL, to Wilbur and Elizabeth Johnson. She attended Zion Benton Township High School in Zion, Illinois, where she was voted “most shy”. After graduation, she met her future husband where many Zion kids in the 1960's would meet: at the Park Roller Rink. David and Donna married in 1964 and after a brief time near Fort Leavenworth, Kansas (where David was stationed in the army), they eventually settled in Zion. In 1970, their first child, Scott, was born. Four years later, they welcomed their second child, Dawn. Between terrifying games of hide-and-seek in the dark and prank phone calls to Iris’ Pizza, she raised her kids and worked at various area hospitals as a nurse and a nurse’s aid.

After the children had grown, the couple relocated to Park Falls where David was raised. Donna enjoyed attending her church, traveling to visit family, a nice bowl of ice cream, and she adored her grandchildren (she also made social media a slightly less awful place). Her sense of humor and abiding sweetness will be sorely, sorely missed. Goodnight, Donna.

Donna is survived by her husband, David; her two children, Scott Lucas (Justine) and Dawn Jones (Rodney); her sisters, Diane Spitz and Helen Teasdale (Jim); and her three grandchildren, Myrissa, Aaron and Alex. Fynn, her beloved canine companion, continues to hold vigil in her favorite chair.

A memorial will be held at 2p.m. on Saturday, August 29th at Evangelical Covenant Church, 335 S. 5th Ave., Park Falls, WI, 54552. Flowers may be sent to the church via The Blumenhaus of Park Falls, WI (Phone: (715) 762-2159). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Donna’s name to the American Cancer Society.
