Donald “Don” Retzlaff, 62, Catawba, died on Wednesday. February 25, 2015 at his home under the care of his family and Flambeau Home Health Care and Hospice.
He was born on March 28, 1952, in Phillips, the son of Herbert and Esther (Kuchera) Retzlaff.
He spent his entire life in the Catawba area. He attended and graduated from Phillips High School, Class of 1970. He then attended U.W. Stevens Point prior to entering the workforce. He was married to Marjorie “Marge” Chinnock on June 9, 1973, in Phillips. They celebrated over 41 years of marriage.
He was employed in road construction, then at Hawkins Sash and Door, kna Jeld-Wen Window and Door in Hawkins, and for over 35 years at MarquipWard United, Phillips as a supervisor until ill health forced him to retire.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Catawba, and was a founding member of the Friends of the Jump River.
In his free time he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting, spending time with his family and friends and camping.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie “Marge” Catawba, by 1 daughter Angela (Richard II)
Fairchild, Prentice, by 1 son Donald (Special Friend Sarah Trautlein) Chippewa Falls, Wi., by 1 granddaughter Ashley Fairchild, by 1 grandson Thomas Woodard, by 2 brothers: Jerry (Special Friend Pam Pfaffendorf) Catawba, and Theodore (Special Friend Melanie Polinsky) Catawba, and by 3 sisters: Diane (Angelo) Altieri, Kimberling City, Missouri, Margaret (David) Lasee, and Anna (Richard) Lukes, all of Catawba.
He was preceded in death by his father Herbert Retzlaff.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Catawba, with Pastor Jody Becker of Bethany Lutheran Church officiating. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. on Saturday at the church until the time of the service.
A memorial Fund has been established.
