Denise Marena Kempen

Denise M. Kempen, 69, of Hawkins, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 6, 2020. Denise was born on February 28, 1951, to Andres and Grace (Hughes) Felix, in Phillips, WI. Her family lived in Prentice before moving to Catawba. She attended school and graduated from Phillips High School.
Denise married David H. Kempen on January 17, 1970. They purchased a farm in Kennan, WI, where they raised their family and were Dairy Farmers until their retirement and they moved to Hawkins. They celebrated 50 years of marriage this year.
She enjoyed spending time with her family – cherishing time with her grandchildren the most, collecting old clocks, adding to her coin collection, crafting, and decorating for every holiday.
Denise is survived by her husband, David H. of Hawkins, WI; children, Marena (Dean) Schreck of Kennan, WI, Jody (Mick) Jablonsky of Kennan, WI, David M. (Jennifer) of Catawba, WI, Douglas of Superior, WI, and Daren Kempen of Hawkins, WI; grandchildren, Cierra of Corpus Cristy, TX, Cassondra of Chippewa Falls, WI, TaKoda of Kennan, WI, Madilyn of Catawba, WI, James of Catawba, WI, Jasper of Ladysmith, WI, and Austin of Ladysmith, WI; and siblings, Andy of CA, Donna (David) Ellis of Prentice, WI, Ronald (Kathy) Felix of Gleason, WI, Gene (Mary) Felix of Medford, WI, and Kevin (Thora) Felix of Lugerville, WI.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Andrew; and sister-in-law, Judy.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2020, at St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church, W9485 State Highway 8, Catawba, WI 54515, with Father Madanu Lourdu Raju officiating. There will be no visitation beforehand and masks will be required due to COVID-19. Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home is assisting the family.
