DELORES HACKERT

Delores Valinda Hackert, 84, Fifield, passed on around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 13, 2018, Mother's Day, at Colonial Center in Colby, WI.

She was born May 11, 1934, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Milton and Elverna (Koenig) Hackert. She grew up in the Milwaukee area and often told many stories of spending time with her friends swimming at the lake, going to baseball games, ice skating, and enjoying all that the big city had to offer. Delores worked for Milwaukee County General Hospital in an office position for the bulk of her career. She was proud of being an Evangelical Lutheran. In the 1990s, Delores, along with her mother and father, moved to a cabin in Fifield and later built a home on their property along the Flambeau River. Delores had an avid interest in sewing and was very meticulous, creating beautiful sewing projects. She was detail-oriented in her knitting and crocheting projects. She enjoyed tending to her yard. Over the years, she had many causes for which she was passionate. She felt things should be done in a proper way. Her love and knowledge of Cocker Spaniels was evident as she owned quite a few Cocker Spaniels throughout her life, with her dog, Robi, being her final four-legged companion.

Delores is survived by her son, David C. Hackert, Catawba; three grandchildren, Jeremiah Cather, Fifield; Joshua Cather, Wausau; and Christine Cather, Prentice; and two great-grandchildren, Aelita Cather and Jayden Cather.

A private memorial service will take place at a later date. Inurnment will be in the Graceland Cemetery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, is in charge of the arrangements.
