CRAIG ALAN MOORE
Craig Alan Moore, 67, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2016, at his home in Phillips, Wisconsin under the care of his wife, three children and Flambeau Home Health and Hospice. He was the husband of Carol (Revak) Moore and they enjoyed 47 years of marriage together
Craig was born on July 18, 1948, in Inkster, Mi. He was the son of Roy V. Moore and Jeanne (Nieman) Moore. Craig graduated from Phillips High School in 1966. He then attended Stout State University for two years before enlisting in the United States Army..
Craig and Carol were married on October 26, 1968 and Craig was deployed to Vietnam two weeks later. He served in the 9th Infantry Division in the Vietnam War. After returning from Vietnam, Craig continued his service as a State Patrol Officer. His law enforcement career spanned 32 years ending with retirement from his position as Chief of Police for the City of Phillips in 2004.
Craig was a member of the Northcentral Chief’s of Police Association, VFW Post 5778 and the Phillips Knights of Columbus Council 2963, both of Phillips. Craig enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, dogs, RC helicopters, spending time in Florida, weaving, fixing just about anything, watching football, playing clarinet and visiting with his family. He will be remembered most for his gentle instruction, service, love and loyalty as a husband, dad, grandpa, brother, and friend.
Craig is survived by his loving wife Carol, Phillips, three daughters: Tammi (Leslie) Stunkel, Sheldon, Terri (Jeff) Jarvi of Green Bay and Trisha (Mark) Shepherdson of Eagle River, nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren, by a sister Deborah Moore, Washington, two brothers: Roy (Dee Dee) Manitowac, Wi., and Mitch (Lidia) Grand Rapids, Mi., and by many friends in Wisconsin, Michigan and Florida
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters: Joyce and Cheryl.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, Phillips, with Fr. Gerald Hagen officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Frank and Michael Baran VFW Post No. 5778 and the Lane Kreiling American Legion Post No. 122. A social gathering will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at the Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips.
A memorial fund has been established for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Children’s Miracle Network, or Ayla at teamayla.com.
