Charles Pouba

Charles "Chuck" Pouba, 76, of Park Falls, died peacefully on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Park Manor Nursing Home in Park Falls, WI. He was born on January 22, 1946, to Charles and Idella (Kadlecek) Pouba, in Phillips.

He was married to Alice Schilling on June 24, 1967, in Phillips. Chuck and Alice enjoyed almost 50 years of marriage before her death on April 3, 2017. He attended Phillips High School and earned his Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Education from UW Stevens Point and an Education Specialist Degree from UW Superior. During his career, he was a beloved teacher, principal, and superintendent in Stevens Point, Greenwood, Park Falls and Glidden. After retirement, Chuck enjoyed substitute teaching, working as a School Financial Consultant, and doing taxes at H&R Block.

Chuck served his community as a member of the Lion's Club in Greenwood and Park Falls and held various leadership positions including President of the Park Falls Lions. He earned multiple Lion of the Year awards and the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. He also served as President of the Park Falls Area Industrial Development Corporation. Most recently he enjoyed serving as a Park Falls Chamber Ambassador and earned the Ambassador of the Year Award in 2019. Chuck belonged to the First Presbyterian Church of Phillips where he served as Session Member and supported the church on several committees and through grant writing and recruiting new members.

Chuck's greatest joy in life were the people in it. He cherished his loving wife and daughters. He took special joy in spending time with his granddaughters. He took pride in building strong relationships with his students, teachers, and co-workers, many of whom became lasting friends. In recent years he most enjoyed spending time with his dear friend, Marilyn Sellers. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Marilyn and her family, Kayla's Kitchen, and Park Falls Family Restaurant for their support of Chuck over the years.

He is survived by his daughters, Suanne (John) Cavanaugh, Port Washington, WI, and Janine (Ken) Pulvermacher, Menomonee Falls, WI; four grandchildren, Jill, Kate, Ally, and Emma; sister, Helen (Jim) Palmquist, Brantwood, WI; and brother, George, Oshkosh, WI; sisters-in-law, Grace Gray, Lexington, NE, Ann "Tike" Hammerstrom, Flower Mound, TX, Kathy Schilling, Phillips, WI; and brother-in-law, Bob Dragovich, Fifield.

He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother-in-law, Clarence "Clink" Schilling; sister-in-law, Nancy Dragovich; and brother-in-law Bob Hammerstrom.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, February 18, 2022, at the First Presbyterian Church, 144 N Avon Ave, Phillips, WI 54555, with Pastor Matthew Arneson officiating. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to the start of service. Inurnment will take place in the spring at the Lakeside Cemetery in Phillips, WI.
