Carl Lawrence Whitby, 88, Prentice, died in the Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau on Monday, October 6, 2014. He was born in Prentice, Wisconsin, on May 3,1926, the son of Lawrence and Julina Whitby. He was married to Betty Jean Freeman on January 28, 1972, in Ironwood, Michigan. He operated the dairy farm in prentice that had been homesteaded by his parents..
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean; by five children, Michael (Terri) Dutcher, Olathe, KS, Steven (Laurie) Dutcher, ND, Linda (Tom) Troutman, Spring Hill, KS, Rosanne Smithhisler, Ojawatomie, KS, and Richard (Nancy) Dutcher, Monticello, UT; by 24 grandchildren and by great grandchildren. He is survived by one brother, Larry Hettler, Prentice. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Dewey and Luther Conner; and by six sisters, Meda Wiles, Weeta Beba, Lelia Olson, Mary Kundiger, Agnes Clark, and Mabel Hollander.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 10, at the Prentice Cemetery in Prentice.
