BERTHA BAKER
Bertha Louise Baker, 87, Kennan, died in the Medford Aspirus Hospital in Medford on Monday, June 3, 2019. She was born in Phillips on October 29, 1931, the daughter of Lawrence and Louise (Mayer) Stibs. She was married to Harold Baker in Prentice on June 20, 1953. She worked with Harold making cheese at the Liberty CO-OP Cheese Factory in Kennan. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Kennan. In her free time she enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, cooking, baking, reading, travel, mowing her lawn, and finding a great deal.
She is survived by one daughter, Debra (Joseph) Hagan, Nashotah, WI; by one son, Lawrence “Larry”, Catawba; by three grandchildren, Tammy (Jason), Barry (Anna), and Wanda (Jared); by five great grandchildren, Johnathan, Jackson, Sawyer, Joanna, and Inga; by one sister, Adeline Batten, Luxemburg, WI; by special nieces Heidi Wnuk and Cheryl Moore; and by close friends, Mary McCormick and Sharon “Lucy” Lowe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, on November 19, 2012; and is also preceded in death by one brother, Addison Stibs.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 30, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Kennan with Pastor John Trewyn officiating. Friends may call at the church on Sunday from 12:Noon until the time of services. Internment will be in the Kennan Cemetery.
