ARLYN K. KIELSMEIER
Arlyn K. Kielsmeier, 79, Phillips, died surrounded by his family in the Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield on Sunday, August 11, 2019. He was born in Freeport, Illinois, on October 5, 1939, the son of Earl and Dorothy (Ludolph) Kielsmeier. He was a graduate of the Freeport High School. He attended UW Superior where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree. While attending UW Superior he met Grace Hertlein, his wife of 56 years. They were married on August 31, 1963. He taught art for several years in Marinette, Merrill, and Oregon, Wisconsin. He then worked for a store near Madison while he studied Landscape Architecture at UW Madison. When his department at the UW was bombed he and Grace decided to move north to Phillips. He and Grace ran the Much Ado craft shop for a few years, then managed the Timber Inn Motel. When Grace returned to teaching, he served as Office Manager of F A Weber until it’s closure, and then worked in various offices of Midwest Insurance until health forced him to retire. He was a member of Saint John Lutheran Church where he was active in the choir, was a member of Friends of Fred Smith and the Price County Historical Society, and was active with the Northwoods Players. Most recently he delighted in teaching weaving projects to his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Grace; by one son, Adam (Trisha), Prentice; by five grandchildren, Molly, Henry, Sam, Ben, and Charlie; by one sister, Carol (Lewis) Chatellier, Freeport, IL; and by nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and by one infant granddaughter, Lily.
