Alexandra C. Polacek

April 3, 1928 — July 21, 2017

Alexandra Polacek (nee Wojnar) died peacefully in Phillips, Wisconsin on July 21, 2017 at the age of 89. Alex was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI where she graduated from Pulaski High School. She worked outside the home starting at age 16 for a wide variety of companies. She took off about a year for the birth of her daughter, Rosalyn. When she went back into the workforce she returned to AC Delco, for 12 yrs, where she enjoyed applying her mathematical skills and logic to assist with problem solving and design.
A few years later she met and married Anthony Polacek and her family grew to include his five children, Betty(Don), William, Judy, Jean(Bill), and Susan(Jerry). Alex and Tony lived in Cudahy. After a short stint as a stay at home mom she worked cooking and serving lunches at Cudahy Jr. High School. Her last place of employment was Trinity Memorial Hospital, now known as St. Luke's South Shore, where she worked as the Head Baker for over twenty years until her retirement.
In 1995, Alex moved to Phillips, WI, lured by the fond memories she had of the family vacations and fishing in the peaceful Northwoods. During her years in Phillips, Alex enjoyed going to bingo with friends and having visits from her family.
Alex is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rosalyn and Carl Greco, Her grandchildren Leanne (Brian) Gill and Valerie (Felipe) Greco and great-grandchildren Stella, Sylvie, and Felix, Tony's children and their families, many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony, her siblings Anthony Wojnar, Casimir Wojnar, Edward Wojnar, Henrietta Walczak, Jeanette Kiel, Joseph Wojnar, Stanley Wojnar and Walter Wojnar.
