ELMER EDWIN SCHWEIKERT
Elmer E. “Toby” Schweikert, 85, died on Friday, September 29, 2017, at Aspirus Pleasant View Nursing Home, Phillips.
He was born on August 17, 1932, in the Town of Emery, the son of Elmer and Clara (Schilling) Schweikert. He attended school in the Town of Emery. Following his education he served his country in the U.S. Army. He returned to the Phillips area following military service and was employed by the local logging industry,including DeLeasky Bros. Logging. He operated all types of heavy equipment, including a road grader for Price County.and for many years was the owner/operator of Toby’s Landscaping, Phillips until the time of his retirement.
He was married to Janet Muelling on August 27, 1955 in Phillips. They later divorced.
He enjoyed fishing redhorse in the spring, watching sports, being in the woods, taking rides in the countryside and spending time with his family, friends, and his dogs Buffy and Emily.His true love was working in the woods, logging, especially in the fall months, offering support with dozer repair and sharing stories with acquaintances.
He is survived by 3 children: Larry (Linda) Schweikert, Phillips, Donald (Ana) Schweikert, Olive Branch, Miss., and Sharon (Roger Listle) Schweikert, Brantwood, by 6 Grandchildren Barb, Chrsitine, Ryan, Amanda, Olivia, and Natalia, and by 8 Great Grandchidren: Dustin, Dylan, Sami, Mary, Chandler, Reily, Carter and Caleb.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by 3 sisters; Florence, Elsie and Grace, and by 3 brothers: Charles, Wesley and Paul.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at the First Baptist Church, Phillips, with Pastor Keith Hurlbut officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at the church until the time of the service. Inurnment will be in the Emery Cemetery, Town of Emery at a later date.
A memorial has been established.
